Rebecca Pow is a dedicated environmental advocate, seasoned policy maker and accomplished communicator.
Her Somerset farming roots go back 5 centuries. She was proud to represent her home area of Taunton Deane in Parliament for 9 years (2015- 2024) following a career in the media, running her own comms and PR business and bringing up her precious family. She has always been at the forefront of driving change and has a special interest in nature and conservation which earned her the prestigious Green Heart Hero Award in 2018 presented by the Climate Coalition for being the ‘Greenest New MP.’ She later held the key role of Nature Restoration Minster and Water Minster. Her career reflects her unwavering commitment to making a difference on local, national and global levels.
Her work advancing communication skills for young people was recognised with the Giving Voice Award from the Royal Collage of Speech and Language Therapist.
Notable achievements include steering the ground breaking Environment Act 2021 through Parliament, a piece of legislation that set legally binding targets on air, water, nature and waste management.
She also played a vital role in initiatives such as the UK’s ban on microbeads, protections for ancient woodlands, programmes to promote sustainable farming practices and she set in motion vital changes to clean up our water system and modernise the water industry. Locally she spearheaded campaigns to restore the iconic Wellington Monument, develop a rail station for Wellington, build a new hospital wing for Musgrove Park Hospital and to save the 40 Commando Royal Marines’ camp from being moved from Taunton.
Whether as a speaker, consultant, strategist, or campaigner her contributions continue to inspire progress and foster a deeper understanding of the critical issues that shape our world.
Rebecca currently holds a rage of Board and Trustee positions including being a Royal Bath & West Agricultural Society Shows Board Director, Trustee of the Somerset Cricket Foundation, a Trustee of the Hestercombe Gardens Trust and Ambassador for charity CHASEAfrica. She also co-chairs the Environmental Industries Associations’ Climate & Net Zero Committee.
She loves her garden which is once again opening for charity. She also enjoys playing tennis and is an avid cricket fan. She is a member her local parish council and church committee. She is a published author of All Gardens Great and Small (Halsgrove) and Thinking Differently about Environmental Policy (the first Conservative Environment Network publication.
